The Community Video Unit (CVU) acts as an alternate media for slum residents, giving them a ‘Voice' in seeking change to their social and economic environment. The video magazines address government campaigns, livelihood opportunities, consumer awareness and social issues. Led by the community, the CVU reaches and empowers slum dwellers to lobby for their rights, change mindsets and mobilize NGOs, the government and the wider public, towards inclusive city development. CVU films have screened at leading film festivals and have been covered by The Times of India and NDTV. To date, there have been 14 videos, 679 screenings and 42,044 viewers.
