Urmila employs and trains women living in slum communities as "Home Managers" to provide professional, high quality home care to urban households. By employing from Urmila, households can expect trustworthy and reliable Home Managers to take care of their homes. This not only enables the women to provide for themselves and their families, but empowers them with life skills and the confidence and security that come with a regular income. Urmila has evolved into successful business model, with 200 clients and 210 Home Managers. The Home Managers pay Rs. 500 for training and Rs. 2,500 for uniforms and supplies.
Urmila has evolved significantly into a successful business model. A systematic finance and payments structure has been designed to support the program such that Franchise Managers have a vested interest in delivering excellent Home Care. It has evolved into a service that is credible, efficient and offers excellent quality home care. This along with a greater percentage of placements and professional recognition is creating an increase in interest.
